This air conditioner caught on fire after a capacitor blew out. Lightning would have gotten the compressor too. I replace all wires and parts. It still works. Sometimes it is better to replace the system but it worked out ok to replace wires and stuff. Insurance will not pay unless it is hit by lightning. Home warranty will not pay for this.
