How to Choose the Right Thermostat for Your Air Conditioning System

Welcome to the Aaac Service Heating and Air blog! When it comes to optimizing your air conditioning system, choosing the right thermostat is key. Let's explore some tips on selecting the perfect thermostat for your needs:

1. Consider Your Needs

Start by assessing your HVAC requirements. Do you prefer programmable thermostats for energy efficiency, or do you need a smart thermostat for remote access and automation?

2. Compatibility

Ensure that the thermostat you choose is compatible with your existing heating and cooling system. Check the wiring and voltage requirements to avoid any installation issues.

3. Features

Look for features that suit your lifestyle, such as Wi-Fi connectivity, scheduling options, and energy-saving modes. Select a thermostat that offers the functionality you need.

4. Budget

Determine your budget for a thermostat. While smart thermostats may come at a higher price point, they can lead to long-term energy savings and convenience.

A/c not on.

If the air conditioner is not cooling change the filter. Check the thermostat battery. Is the power on. Is the furnace blowing but no a/c.

Sometimes the a/c is ok but your furnace is not blowing the air. Check power to furnace. Is there water in the pan. Get it out.

So, the air conditioner was not blowing air at all when Aaac Service arrived. We checked filter, thermostat power, blower and the usual suspects.
The blower motor was not working. Well, this furnace is 38 years old with the original motor. We recommended a new furnace, but it was not in the homeowner's budget.  We found blower motor that will do the job. The air conditioner is on and working again. We do what we can to get you cool.  Here is the 1987 Ducane furnace. New furnaces will not last like this one.

Low on Freon or bad airflow, you got ice in the line.

Furnace repair in Mcdonough
Today during a residential service call in McDonough, we found what looked like a heat pump system with low Freon. After checking the air flow, it was determined that the coil was blocked. It was the worst we ever saw. The renter had put a tee shirt down the return. There was never a filter. The coil had dog hair and poo clogging it. Most of this was done on purpose. A clogged coil can block the air flow and freeze the lines. This is the same outcome a unit low on refrigerant has. You will have no cool air and the black line going into the a/c will be frozen. The ice you can't see is the problem. It was a solid block of ice in the air handler under the house. You can damage the blower motor so turn it off if you see ice. The coil was cleaned, and it is all working now. Aaac Service heating and air 7708754113
